چکیده
We consider the equation modeling the compressible hydrodynamic flow of liquid crystals in one dimension. When the initial density function ρ0 has a positive lower bound, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of global classical, and strong solutions and the existence of weak solutions. For ρ0 ≥ 0, we obtain the existence of global strong solutions.

Weak solution to compressible hydrodynamic flow of liquid crystals in 1-D
We consider the equation modeling the compressible hydrodynamic flow of liquid crystals in one dimension. As mentioned in [12], the weak solution was obtained with the initial density having a positive lower bound and Hintegrable. In this paper, we get a weak solution with initial density nonnegative and L-integrable.
متن کاملWeak Solution to Compressible Hydrodynamic Flow of Liquid Crystals in Dimension One
We consider the equation modeling the compressible hydrodynamic flow of liquid crystals in one dimension. In this paper, we establish the existence of a weak solution (ρ, u, n) of such a system when the initial density function 0 ≤ ρ0 ∈ L for γ > 1, u0 ∈ L, and n0 ∈ H. This extends a previous result by [12], where the existence of a weak solution was obtained under the stronger assumption that ...
متن کاملBlow up criterion for compressible nematic liquid crystal flows in dimension three
In this paper, we consider the short time strong solution to a simplified hydrodynamic flow modeling the compressible, nematic liquid crystal materials in dimension three. We establish a criterion for possible breakdown of such solutions at finite time in terms of the temporal integral of both the maximum norm of the deformation tensor of velocity gradient and the square of maximum norm of grad...
متن کاملWell-posedness for the heat flow of harmonic maps and the liquid crystal flow with rough initial data
We investigate the well-posedness of (i) the heat flow of harmonic maps from R to a compact Riemannian manifold N without boundary for initial data in BMO; and (ii) the hydrodynamic flow (u, d) of nematic liquid crystals on R for initial data in BMO−1 × BMO.
متن کاملGlobal Weak Solutions to the Equations of Compressible Flow of Nematic Liquid Crystals in Two Dimensions
We consider weak solutions to a simplified Ericksen-Leslie system of two-dimensional compressible flow of nematic liquid crystals. An initialboundary value problem is first studied in a bounded domain. By developing new techniques and estimates to overcome the difficulties induced by the supercritical nonlinearity |∇d|d in the equations of angular momentum on the direction field, and adapting t...
